Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them;
for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14)

St Mary Magdalene
Primary School, Woolwich is a Church of England Primary school and nursery
located in the Parish of Woolwich. The school and church have close links with
each other. The Rector takes regular assemblies in the school, and is assisted
in this regard by the Honorary Curate, Grahame Stephens. The school also comes
at least once a term to our parish churches to celebrate festivals, such as
Easter, Harvest and Christmas; and the Leavers Service takes place at St Mary’s
Church each year. Revd Grahame is Chair of Governors of the school. The Head
Teacher of the school, Miss Clair Veal works very closely with both our Parish
Ministry Team and the church appointed school governors; and it is a great joy
to the parish to have this link with the Head Teacher, the school, and the
children themselves.
Because St Mary
Magdalene School is a Church of England school, one of the main criteria for
gaining a place at the school is regular attendance at either St Mary Magdalene
Church or St Michael and All Angels Church, Woolwich. The children of families
that do attend our churches regularly, for at least one year, are prioritised
in the admissions list. Others families can apply to send their children to the
school as well as the school is open to all the children in the area, but they
will need to apply under other criteria on the admissions policy.
St Mary Magdalene School
is a happy, successful, and oversubscribed school and nursery that promotes all
aspects of its pupils education and welfare. The school has a Christian ethos
based especially on the teachings of the Church of England. The school is one
of four primary schools in Woolwich, one of which is Roman Catholic and two of
which are state schools.
